Thais upset Thais by stepping on Japanese flowers (VIDEO)

The tables turned today with an angry online discussion of bad tourist behavior that did not involve the Chinese.

A recent video of Thai tourists caught stomping on scenery in Japan to line up their selfie sticks prompted discussion among netizens that maybe we should think twice before pointing fingers.

“Don’t just blame other nationalities. We are not any better,” as the video was suggestively titled, shows three Thai tourists ignoring a designated photo area to trample flowerbeds at Hitachi Seaside Park in Japan, leaving a trail of dead pretty flowers in the wake of their quests for selfies.

The video was filmed by another Thai in the crowd who witnessed the scene, and it was brought up on Pantip yesterday where it drew an angry response from other Thais in a forum often awash in tales of wrongdoing by Chinese visitors.

“People who stumbled on this clip must feel embarrassed after the hard time we gave Chinese tourists,” Warnew commented.

Others wasted no time trampling subtly to reach hyperbole.

“These people damage our country’s reputation!” Kao Yeepoon said. “They affect the relationship between our two countries. They’re nothing better than terrorists!”

While it is unlikely someone will track down the tourists seen in the clip, a group of Thai actors were suspended from their jobs and forced to publically apologize in April for posting a video of them doing a goofy dance on a Japanese train, which Thai netizens felt disgraced by.
