Teen sex in parks to be cockblocked by government

Bangkok officials vow to go after horny park goers who have sex in public parks.

Suwaporn Germrangsri, Director of Environment Department, said Wednesday he’s instructed security officers in 34 parks to increase their rounds and interrupt such naughty activities, mostly committed by teenagers with raging hormones.

“I insist Bangkok Administration does not ignore this problem. If we don’t do anything, Thai culture will continue to go down the rabbit hole,” Suwaporn said. “We have to prevent this. We will have security guards patrol more frequently, also to ensure safety for park goers.”

Suwaporn said officials have a hard time monitoring couples in the city’s parks because it could be misconstrued as a violation of privacy, while fellow park goers turn a blind eye when they see something because it’s none of their business.

Couples caught for the first time will get off with a warning.

“If we catch the couple red-handed we would give them a warning. Although this is against the law, the punishment is very light,” he said.

The punishment for public obscenity is a THB500 fine, Naewna reported.
