Bangkok Saturday Nights: Better off on the sofa

Presented by

It’s Saturday night. You’re dressed to the nines. You’re the evening’s golden ticket. You just can’t wait to head out to the ball and find your Prince Charming (ha!). But wait… shit… your friends are out of town, at work, on dates with their prince charmings, or whatevs. You’re in Bangkok, all glass slippers, and nowhere to go.

Or, you’re Prince Charming (haha!). You think you can dazzle. You fancy yourself a man of the world, an inveterate charmer (hahaha!)… just waiting for that humble, hardworking, caring, honest and storybook-stunning young lady to arrive in a gilded pumpkin (hahahaha!).

“Lady Tremaine, Drisella and Anastasia”

Gagging yet? Positively puking at the preposterous proposition that Prince and Princess Charming are out on the prowl in the City of Angels and will find themselves falling deep in love at the Bangkok Ball (whatever or wherever that is)? Good.

Because you should be. You deserve better. Stay home. That’s the way the pros roll… just trust us on this one. Treat yourself to a Saturday night you truly deserve, because only you know how to treat yourself proper. Fine wine, fine beer (right?), fine food, fine film and fine company (the best, in fact. Yourself. Duh.) Simply give up on the gown, the glass slippers, the gilded pumpkin and ball, because it ain’t worth it.

Abandon yourself to a night of pure self-indulgence, answerable to no-one but yourself. And, really, there aren’t many places on earth where it can be more enjoyable – more affordable – to stay home and luxuriate, than in good ol’ Bangkok, Thailand. With the sheer number of delivery services sourcing basically every restaurant in town.

And – another pro tip – if you’ve done your due diligence, you’ll know that you can even sort out delivery from your favorite street food stalls (we’re going to leave the details of just how to do this up to you, but we’ll give you a big hint: just ask your favorite food vendor how to get this shit done).

You need booze? Remember, you’re luxuriating, so you’re not moving your ass from the sofa. You need delivery. Bangkok has you covered (again, we’re goint to leave the details of this arrangement up to you, but we’ll give you a big hint: Google.)

You need the film… that self-indulgent film? Well, surely by now you’ve got your Primetime TV subscription up and running (OK, we’ll help you with this one, because you’ve read this far and you deserve it: Check out the Primetime TV packages here), and queue up the 2015 studio remake of the aforementioned alluded-to Disney classic itself: Cinderella, starring Lily James, Kate Blanchett and Richard Madden.

Now that’s a night dreams are made of.
