Clean toilet campaign for tourists

People can now enjoy a trip to the bathroom and not be grossed out when using public toilets at several tourist attractions as the “WC OK” campaign is expected to keep toilets clean.

The campaign, now in its initial stage, was adopted by the Department of Tourism in order to set a framework, regulations and standards to ensure that toilets at tourist attractions are kept clean.

It is supported by some 50,000 government and private agencies.

Tourism and Sports Minister, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, commented that since the campaign was launched, a working team has been monitoring its progress and handing out “WC OK” signs to its partners who will make sure their public toilets are well-maintained and to assure tourists of their hygiene and comfort.

“This campaign is also in response to the prime minister’s policy assigned to the ministry to take care of public toilets at tourist attractions which support tourism in a sustainable way.” Kobkarn says.

She added the campaign is backed by its 52,975 partners nationwide, including religious venues, restaurants, national parks, department stores and transport stations, state media reported.
