Budget airlines required to declare available seats during sales

Following complaints over the lack of available seats during so-called airfare sales, all low-cost airlines are now required to declare the total number on offer during the promotion period.

Due to many flyers voicing their annoyance at failing to grab a cheap ticket during the sales, low-cost airlines now must declare how many seats are available at the promotional prices and how many seats are left when a customer books a ticket.

The requirement was disclosed yesterday by Transport permanent-secretary Soithip Trisuddhi after chairing a meeting with low-cost airlines.

Soithip said from October to June, the ministry received complaints from customers that the promotions are in fact exaggerated..

The airfares of low-cost airlines are currently capped at THB13 per kilometer but the airlines are allowed to drop the fare for sales to benefit customers, Thairath reported.
