Wishbeer fulfills craft beer nerd dreams

COCONUTS HOT SPOT – Early on in the craft beer game, a Frenchman by the name of Jerome saw a gap in the market for buying beer for home consumption. To fill that gap, he set up the first website to sell craft beer in the kingdom: Wishbeer.

Now, years later, his business has grown into Wishbeer Home Bar, a new spot where craft beer enthusiasts can enjoy all the brews (over 550 different bottles) from the website in a large, well-lit space on Sukhumvit. Beer enthusiasts can even buy bottles to take home.

Situated in a storefront at The Lofts Ekkamai, the venue isn’t simply a place for boozing. Morning coffee enthusiasts can enjoy beans from Phil Roasters, which offers flavors such as Tokyo Porter or Rasputin .

In an effort to showcase local producers, Amantee supplies all the pastries to go along with the coffee, but here’s a little secret: the stuff that doesn’t sell is served for free as snacks in the evening. Bits of buttered croissant go wonderfully with Lion Stout, a Sri Lankan brew that offers ridiculous value.

Arthur and Eliot, the managers running the bar, are well versed on the nectar of the gods and have a keen eye for serving curious beer drinkers the right beer.

The restaurant doesn’t have a permanent kitchen right now, but that gives local business Deli-Q the chance to park their truck out back and serve up southern-style US barbecue sandwiches. The selection from the food truck is well thought out, as there are few cuisines better suited to be paired with beer than American BBQ.
