Police spokesman Prawuth Thavornsiri announced in a press conference today that the man they caught at the Thai-Cambodian border is certainly an “important person” in the group responsible in the Bangkok bombing.
“We’re confident he’s involved in the gang. He’s one important person,” Prawut said in the press conference at 5pm.
However, police have yet to confirm him if he is the primary suspect in the yellow T-shirt who was caught on CCTV and has been on the police’s wanted list since the Erawan Shrine bombing on Aug. 17.
When asked what evidence they had against the man, Prawut declined to provide any information, saying the investigation is still ongoing and that no charges have been pressed. The suspect is detained under Article 44.
Prawuth added the interrogation of the new arrested man is being conducted in English, adding
the police should have more information to provide by tomorrow.
“He’s involved in the whole process. Let us handle the investigation first. But I believe we have good news,” Prawut said.
Meanwhile, warrants have been issued for three men named Ali Jolan (translated,) Ahmet Bozoglan, whose nationality is not confirmed, and another unknown Turkish man.
