An Australian woman was rescued from the sea and rushed to a hospital in Phuket yesterday morning after her left foot was bitten by a mystery sea creature.
Jane Neame, 37, was swimming at Karon beach when an unknown creature took two bites out of her left foot. She yelled out for help and the lifeguards took her to Patong Hospital.
Dr. Kongkiat Kittiwattanawong, head of Marine Endangered Species Unit, said he thinks the tourist was bitten by a shark, judging from the teeth marks. However, Kongkiat will send the photos of the tourist’s wound to experts for a second opinion
Kongkiat added that there has never been a shark attack on Phuket. The organization will issue a statement to the provincial administration to warn tourists, Sanook reported.
