Ministry delays taxi fare hike due to poor service

The planned second-phase taxi fare hike has been delayed due to the poor performance of the taxi service.

The Ministry of Transport made it clear that before a fare increase is enforced a passenger satisfaction survey of taxis will be conducted.

Transport Minister Arkom Termpittayapaisith also urged private companies to launch more taxis in a bid to improve the overall service.

The proposed fare hike will be reviewed again in October.

Mr Arkom’s statement came after he presided over the opening ceremony of an “All Thai Taxi” service. All Thai Taxi will have 150 taxis to start with but they will increase to 500 in December, reported Thai PBS English.
