Story of children locked away from outside world acted out in ‘Dogtooth’

A married couple keep their son and daughter blindfolded inside their house. A tall fence surrounds the property and the children are unaware of the outside world. The kids are also taught different meanings for each word they learn.

This is an excerpted plot from the 2009 Greek film “Kynodontas” which inspired Thai actors Tassakorn Seepuan and Napim Singtoroj to act out the plot in a play held at Thong Lor Art Space Bangkok in April. Their performance focused on physical movements over dialogue.

Dogtooth is about how people react to their surroundings in daily life. It compares people who tend to accept outside rule which some consider to be nonsense and unreasonable, whereas others question it.

After pleasing the crowd in April, Dogtooth will be performed again at Take Off Festival for four nights at 8pm on Sept. 17 – 20.

Tickets are THB400 and available on its website.
