Thai photographer reveals the truth behind those perfect instagram posts (PHOTOS)

A Thai photography student’s recently published project examines what actually happens before those perfect Instagram photos are cropped and filtered.

The project titled, “i’m slowlife?” by Morakot Siripala, a photography major from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, has been picked up by international media around the world with her message of reality vs. social media perception resonating.

Just how hard do some people try to earn admiration and “likes” on Instagram?

“Slow life” is a slang term in Thai language to describe a luxurious lifestyle i.e. using brand-name products and eating expensive meals on the daily (even though they might barely be able to afford it).

The term is said to be a total misinterpretation of the  “slow living” concept from  blogger Leo Babuata, which is actually about consuming less.
