Star to be named after kinky crocodile king from Thai folklore

The name Chalawan, the epithet of the evil Thai crocodile king who according to folk legend was killed for getting jiggy with a human woman, has won a global vote for naming a star near our solar system.

The name, which was submitted by the Thai Astronomy Society, will be given to a yellow dwarf star formerly called “47 Ursae Majoris,” located in the Great Bear constellation, the International Astronomical Union announced today.

The Great Bear constellation is also known as the “crocodile stars” in Thai astronomy, so Chalawan is definitely the perfect name for the star.

Chalawan has a similar mass to our sun and hosts three exoplanets, two of which will be named after the human wife Thapao Thong and her sister Taphao Kaew, sexing up the science of astronomy.

The vote was opened to the public which drew a half a million votes from 182 countries to name 14 stars and 31 exoplanets.

Chalawan is the reptilian villain of the Thai folklore Kraithong, which is basically a kinky story about crocodile-human sex.

Set in Pichit province, the evil king falls in love with the human Taphao Thong, and decided to  kidnap her and makes her his wife despite already having two crocodile wives.

Taphao Thong’s father hires the handsome Kraithong to slay the crocodile, which he does. As his reward, Kraithong gets to marry both Taphoa Thong and her sister Thaphao Kaew.

But in the process of killing Chalawan, Kraithong actually falls in love with one of the crocodile wives.

The two sisters fight with the crocodile mistress for their hero, and Kraithong eventually chooses them. The threesome lives happily ever after.
