Travel inspiration: Check out best of Thailand at tourism festival

Drop by Lumpini Park this week to get some ideas for your next holiday as the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) holds a festival highlighting the best of Thailand.

The Thailand Tourism Festival, taking place from today until Sunday, will showcase the landmarks and cultural heritage of the five regions of the country.

“All under one single venue, the event is a centre stage for a harmonious mix of Thai cultures and quintessential Thai ways of life from the North, South, East, Central, and Northeast,” said Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT governor.

“Here, tourists and travelers can come to find inspirations for their next trips to explore Thailand.”

Zone 1 of the festival will feature the authority’s “12 Hidden Gems Plus” campaign, highlighting several off-the-beaten-track destinations for seasoned travelers. An old-style movie theater will also play inspirational films.

The second zone will feature traditional Thai houses, cultures and performances, from Luk Thung Thai folk music to Likay Thai opera, Lanna cultural performances and Alcazar cabaret. Visitors can also discover more about religious sites, local markets and arts and handicrafts.

Zone 3 will feature delicious dishes, desserts and snacks from all over Thailand, giving visitors a hint of culinary delights across the country.

The last zone will feature an entertainment stage with some local celebrities and actors popping by.
