Devil Doll: ‘Look Thep’ discovered with yaba at Chiang Mai Airport

Just as Thai Smile airline announced it would allow Look Thep haunted dolls to fly as passengers, a doll was discovered stuffed with yaba at Chiang Mai Airport yesterday.

Following a tip there would be a yaba trade at the airport, police searched the parking lot and found a doll stuffed with 200 tablets of yaba left inside a bag around 6pm yesterday.

Police believe the doll was being used as a drugs mule and was due to be flown to Bangkok.

While it looks just like another Look Thep, the popular spirit doll Thais worship for wealth and blessings, police did not confirm if this doll was one of those.

Police will track down the doll’s owner as the investigation continues, Manager reported.

Look Thep has become a new superstitious trend since last year when local celebrities were seen cradling the “haunted” dolls out in public.

The dolls are said to contain a child’s spirit inside, and owners must feed and raise them like regular human children.
