Police are investigating body parts that washed up in different locations along the Chao Phraya River across Bangkok over the weekend.
Four human body parts, including a head, a torso, an arm, and the lower part of a leg from the knee to the calf were discovered in different locations of the river. They were sent to the Police Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine for DNA testing.
The condition of the parts suggested they were in the river for about two days. Police have yet to confirm if they are from the same person.
The first part found was an arm, discovered by a dockyard worker near Kharuehabodee temple in Bang Phlat district on Saturday morning, Bangkok Post reported.
Yesterday morning, the leg part was found near Tamnak Tai Temple in Muang district of Nonthaburi. At about 2pm, a male torso was found in the river near Tienthawai Temple in the province’s Pak Kret district, before a male head turned up under a house in the same district two hours later, according to Thairath.
The local media reported the head looked like it belonged to a foreigner, which they described as “Kaek Kao,” meaning “pale-skinned Arab.”
The results of the forensic examination are expected this week as police look into missing person reports and cases.
