This Chinese New Year, get everything you want for the auspicious holiday at your local shopping paradise, Central World.

Central Food Hall presents Central Bangkok China’s Best at CentralWorld, an extravaganza of food, offerings, snacks, desserts and traditional Chinese goodies on now until February 8, 2016. It’s all happening at Central World’s ground floor Dazzle Zone and Central Food Hall on the seventh floor.

Here are some of the highlights from this CNY festival you won’t want to miss:

The ambiance of the festival. With bright pink floral lanterns and strings of hanging lights, the non-traditional decor puts a modern spin on #ChinaBest2016. Take a ride around the festival in a bright pink rickshaw, dolled up in a stunning flower motif.

The “Treasures of Two Lands” Buddha statues. These 500-year-old relics of the Jade Empire once belonged to the Empress Cixi. Now they are in Thailand for the very first time to bring luck and good fortune. If you haven’t heard of them before, just ask the crowds of people in Taiwan who queued up for 3 hours just to catch a glimpse of these ancient jade artifacts.

Signature dishes from Ping’s Thai Teochew Restaurant. Sample the 50-year-old family recipes from Ping’s. Try fresh cooked shrimp cakes (tod mun kung), fish cakes (tod mun pla) and deep fried dumplings made of pork and shrimp (hoy jor). The balance of flavors is very traditional – the recipe is a few generations old, after all – but the sweet and savory tastes feel new, fresh and modern.

Famous fried taro balls from Chef Pom restaurant. You can’t eat just one of these traditional Chinese snacks. Golden brown and crispy on the outside, soft and just the right amount of sweet on the inside. Quite deserving of the #ChinaBest2016 stamp of approval.

Delicious Chinese food and dim sum from Hua Seng Hong. The well-known Chinese restaurant brings their signature dishes of crispy stir-fried chicken and cashews, yellow noodles with vegetables and juicy shrimp and pork dumplings, to the festival.

Pork curry with egg and kunchieng sausage from Goldencoin Restaurant. This dish really hits the spot, probably because it’s spicy enough for a Thai palette. The meat is stewed for hours making it super tender and flavorful.

Sets of offerings that look almost too decadent to be true. The Blissfully Blessed Set (9,990 THB) is filled with auspicious red alfonsino fish, abalone, Maine lobster, Alaska king crab, and steamed freshwater prawns. Or choose the S-Pure Sacred Set (619 THB), which includes the traditional combination of duck, pork and chicken. The duck is simmered in Chinese Five Spice (ped pa-loh), the pork is stewed in Chinese spices, and the chicken is braised and tender. Each element in these sets has a special meaning, so you can choose the perfect set to wish your friends and family a happy New Year.

The auspicious deals. Each day the first 50 people to spend 1,500 THB will be rewarded with a sacred token flown in from the oldest, most revered temple in Macau. There are a limited number of these carved Pi Xiu tokens, which are considered to be powerful protectors for practitioners of Feng Shui.

The sheer variety of apples and oranges. With 20 different kinds of oranges and a wide variety of apples, including lucky Mutsu apples with delicate monkey designs, the fruit definitely deserves a mention. Top off a basket of Chinese New Year fruit with an intricately designed lucky melon figurines on a long stem.

Up at Central Food Hall on the seventh floor of Central World you’ll also find a huge Chinese New Year display, lit up with beautiful lights and bright pink lanterns. Here you can shop a huge variety of fruit imported especially for this holiday season.

#CentralFoodHall is offering more activities, giveaways and special promotions at Central Bangkok China’s Best 2016 festival from now until February 8, 2016.
