Nok Air has been forced to cancel more flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai after continued pilot shortages.
The airline said it would cancel two round flights from Don Mueang to Chiang Mai today, with Nok Scoot Airlines stepping in to fly the affected passengers, Thai PBS reported.
Nok Air CEO Patee Sarasin admitted that some pilots had resigned due to company restructuring and that everything would “return to normal” next month.
He refused to elaborate on how many pilots had resigned.
The CEO today said in a Tweet: “This is what you called a “Growing pain” will be back better for our team, our company, and share holders [sic]. And of course for our customers.”
He added: “We apologize to our customers for all the inconvenience, but with the changes we will be even better in the very near future.”
Nok Air canceled several flights last week, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded, while 20 flights were also canceled on Tuesday, Khaosod English reported.
The airline dismissed three pilots after a pilot strike on Valentine’s Day left more than 3,000 people stranded.
Nok Air has been warned that it could lose its operating license if it continued to handle such incidents poorly.
Bangkok Post reported that at least 17 of a total of 192 Nok Air pilots have quit the company, with more resignations expected.
