Internet celebrity charged after ‘shooting himself in the head’ on Facebook Live stream

In a world where fame is fleeting, it seems that people will do anything to remain in the spotlight, even if that means pretending to shoot yourself in the head.

After news spread online that internet celebrity Nae Wat Dao or Makharin Phumsa-art had reportedly shot himself in the head during a Facebook Live stream on Saturday, it has been confirmed that he suffered nothing more than a scratch.

“The news said the gun was used on his head, if it was true there must definitely be a severe wound,” said police Maj. Gen. Uthasin Ruangdet.

“But from the informal conversation with the doctor, it was confirmed no stitches were made, as it was only a scratch.”

Police yesterday charged Nae with illegal possession of a gun.

Deputy Police Chief Pongsapat Pongcharoen said on Saturday that he had already ordered the Technology Crime Suppression Division to look into the case. He said Nae, who has more than 1 million Facebook followers, must be warned about his conduct.

The 26-year-old former street gangster’s video is no longer available online.

Nae was taken to Siriraj Hospital on Saturday and then reportedly transferred from Siriraj to a private psychiatric hospital where he used to be a patient. He has now reportedly been released from the hospital, reported Khaosod English.
