Summer storms damage over 700 homes in North, Northeast

Summer storms damaged more than 700 homes in the North and Northeast this week and one woman was seriously injured after she was reportedly struck by lightning.

Chaiyaphum, Loei, Mukdahan, Buriram, Nakhon Ratchasima and Chiang Rai were the provinces hit by strong summer storms.

One woman was seriously injured when she was reportedly hit by lightning as she waited at an intersection on her motorbike in Buriram.

She was rushed to Buriram hospital.

Local authorities were rushing to get aid to affected areas and inspecting and assessing the damage in order to allocate funds under the Ministry of Finance’s regulations.

The summer storms are expected to last a few more days.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha yesterday ordered all relevant government agencies to urgently assist people affected, said government spokesman Maj. Gen. Sansern Kaewkamnerd yesterday.

He said the premier also suggested that people store water for consumption and farming  after the heavy rainfall, reported Thai PBS.
