Tour bus crash kills driver in Kanchanaburi, injures 22 passengers

A tour bus driver was killed and 22 passengers injured, three of them seriously, in a crash near the Srinakharind dam in Kanchanaburi province today.

The bus, carrying 23 Thai tourists from Sing Buri, who were heading home after camping and rafting in Si Sawat district, ran off the road and crashed into the hillside.

The driver lost control going down the hilly road. The bus first hit a low concrete barrier and then ploughed into the hillside, reported Bangkok Post.

Sisawat district police suspect the driver, Supachai Sukchoen, was not familiar with the route.

Supachai was crushed to death behind the steering wheel.

The injured passengers were taken to nearby Tha Kradan Hospital.
