A video showing what looks like an abandoned dog chasing after a car on Soi Vibhavadi 60 has stirred up some controversy on social media this afternoon.
Facebook user Zuganda Khatii Cinkajitt, who posted the video, wrote that when she was driving to work, she saw the driver take the dog out of his car before driving away.
The video has been viewed over 200,000 times on Facebook.
“I saw the driver put the dog out of his car. I thought he was going to feed it. But then [he drove away] and the dog chased after the car for over a kilometer. Not sure if the driver had abandoned the dog,” she wrote.
Zuganda, a Thai PBS journalist who works on the soi and feeds dogs in the area, decided to share the story on social media to try and make the driver claim responsibility for his actions.
“The dog won’t survive. There are other stray dogs in the soi that might hurt it. It wouldn’t know how to find food,” she wrote.
When Coconuts spoke to Zuganda, she said the driver has contacted her after the video went viral and she will meet him to clear things up tonight as it is still unclear what actually happened.
The driver claims the dog was actually a stray and he adopted her two puppies, causing the mother to chase after the car.
“Today I’ll find out if he actually took the puppies and find out where their mother is because she has run away.”
“He can’t just come and talk to me. I need evidence that [he did not abandon that dog.]”
