End of Print: Cosmopolitan Thailand folds after two decades

Cosmopolitan Thailand, the Thai edition of the popular American women’s magazine, is folding next month after it just celebrated its 19th anniversary in Thailand.

The month of May will signal the end of an era with the last issue of Cosmopolitan Thailand.

The magazine will stop printing eight months before its license in Thailand expires at the end of the year.

Pee Malakul Na Ayudhya, CEO of Advance Publishing, said the magazine is folding because it cannot handle the high cost of production amidst the competition with digital media.

The company has also reportedly laid off about 15 employees from its local fashion magazine, Dichan, which will continue to print, according to Kapook.

Meanwhile, IMAGE, another high-profile fashion magazine which always features the country’s biggest star on the cover, will also fold next month.
