Thai man admits to cutting off dog’s front paws with a sword

A man has been reported to police for cutting off the front paws of a dog with a sword in Samutprakarn after the pooch chewed his shoes.

Theprachen Srisoda, 36, a crane operator, admitted to attacking his neighbor’s one-year-old dog in the early hours of Thursday morning after the dog had snuck onto his property and chewed his work shoes and safety helmet.

The dog’s owner, Natnicha Phuthorntong, 32, said “Cola” was taken to a vet for blood transfusions and is responding well to treatment.

Natnicha said four days before the incident, “Cola” had chewed the neighbor’s boots and a helmet but she paid him THB1,000 for the damage and bought a chain for the dog.

On Thursday morning, she found Cola injured in front of her house. A trail of the dog’s blood led to Theprachen’s home.

Theprachen told police he attacked Cola Thursday morning because he was angry the dog was not chained up as promised and had chewed his shoes many times.

He randomly threw his sword at the dog and he didn’t realize it had chopped the pooch’s front paws off.

Natnicha reported the matter to an animal welfare group who went with her to the local police station where they were joined by Theprachen, reported Thai News Agency.

Police charged him with offences relating to animal welfare that carry a prison sentence of up to two years and a fine of not more than THB40,000.
