English businessman pays THB5 million dowry to wed Thai factory worker

Love, as we know, isn’t gender specific, which means that there is no reason why a man cannot give another man a big fat dowry.

A Thai factory worker had a big wedding in Prachin Buri province yesterday after his foreign boyfriend paid THB5 million dowry to marry him and feed hundreds of people in his hometown.

Carl Eden, 35, from England, reportedly honored his boyfriend Chaiworawit “Tony” Withaworn, 29, with a THB5 million dowry, which includes gold, cash, a house, and a car.

Even though Thailand doesn’t recognize same-sex marriage, their wedding followed every bit of Thai tradition as Carl arrived at Tony’s home with his Khan Mak (groom’s parade) and escorted Tony from his bedroom to the wedding.

The sign on Tony’s bedroom read “Mia Farang” (white man’s wife).

Over 500 guests attended the wedding reception in the evening.

Tony told reporters that he met Carl on Facebook. The couple knew each other for three years before Carl traveled to Thailand to meet Tony last year, and that’s when they fell in love.

Tony now plans to move to England and help his husband with his businesses which includes a flower shop, convenience store and some rental apartments, Thairath and Kapook reported.
