Fire at Doi Suthep-Pui National Park possibly caused by human error: Prayuth

The forest fire in Doi Suthep-Pui National Park that damaged more than 290 rai of the area yesterday was reportedly started by human error.

It took about 80 people from fire fighting units of the Forestry Department and staff of Doi Suthep-Pui and other national parks in the province to combat the fire, reported Bangkok Post.

Soldiers have been sent to the park to help park officials control the fire.

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said it is believed the fire was started by people who went into the forest to find food. He said the public must be aware of the causes of forest fires and stop using practices that can start fires, according to Now26.

Chiang Mai governor Pawin Chamniprasat said whoever started the fire will be prosecuted.
