Storm is coming: Bangkokians urged to get home before 6pm

The government has just given you a great excuse to leave work early today.

Following the worst drought in two decades, it is predicted Bangkok will be hit by its first rainstorm this evening, said Royon Jitdorn, Director of Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute.

Several areas in the city have been experiencing heavy rainfall this afternoon including Saimai, Bangsue, Chatuchak, Phaya Thai, Din Daeng, Huai Khwang, and Bangkapi districts, according to JS100.

“Bangkok is getting off to a bad start on the rainy season because they will be hit by a rainstorm at the very beginning. The average precipitation is at 100 millimeters, but it could go up to 150 millimeters,” Royon said.

Royon suggested residents get home before 6pm if they don’t have any important business outside, Matichon reported.
