Adidas will only sell limited-edition shoes to customers in head-to-toe Adidas

Adidas Thailand has landed itself in hot water after the brand announced that it will only sell the sought-after NMD shoes to customers wearing full Adidas outfits.

Following the chaos where hundreds of Thais tried to push into an Adidas store to get their hands on the limited-edition shoes, Adidas announced on Facebook yesterday that it will only sell the new models, NMD Runner PK and NMD City Sock, to customers who are wearing at least three Adidas items.

It even goes into detail, noting that the three items must be an Adidas top, bottom and sneakers and that Adidas sandals don’t count.

So, basically you have to sport Adidas from head to toe.

During the introduction of previous models of the popular NMD shoe series, hundreds of locals reportedly camped out in front of the Siam Center Adidas store overnight. Due to this high demand, it was rumored that many of those who queued for shoes were smart merchants who planned to resell them at a much higher price.

The Facebook announcement has sparked criticism in the comments section of the post.

“You treat your product like a Laferrari. Do I also need to submit my profile, bank statement, and a guarantor?” the top comment read.

“These stupid rules will just backfire and make people hate your brand. The marketing team should evaluate themselves,” wrote Krittavit Wichaikhammart.

The NMD R1 PK and NMD City Sock models are scheduled to go on sale this Saturday at Siam Center. The queue will open at 7am and it’s been announced that customers will not be allowed to try on shoes and must go directly to the checkout, no exceptions.
