Intern-et Sensation: Sharpen your storytelling and sarcasm skills as a Coconuts intern

Coconuts Bangkok is looking for aspiring journalists to join our editorial team.

Working closely with the editors, interns will learn about online journalism first-hand. They play a role in everything from brainstorming story ideas to writing catchy headlines to publishing their own features on an exciting platform.

We’re looking for both full-time and part-time interns.

Full-time interns

Full-time interns are required to come into our Chitlom office five days a week.

We want you if you’re a:

– University student who is up-to-date with what’s happening in Bangkok and want to write about it. English and Communication Arts majors preferred.

– Talented writer with a twist of sarcasm and lots of humor.

– Sentient being with a laptop. Basic photo editing and Google docs skills required.

Part-time interns

Part-time interns are not required to work with editors in the office. They will be assigned to a project with help of editors. Part-time interns, however, are entitled to attend a weekly editorial meeting.

Hit us up if you’re an:

– Aspiring journalist with fresh ideas for feature stories. Positions are not limited to students.

– Independent worker.

Extra points if you can do one (or more) of the following:

Take a good photograph, program HTML, shoot/edit video, do some basic design/ illustration work, or speak both English and Thai.

What’s in it for you:

– A three-to-four month internship which will look really good on your resume’ and a chance to become a better writer. (Fact: All students who have interned with Coconuts showed great improvement in their writing at the end of their internship).

– The opportunity to pitch, research and write your own stories.

– All the free beverages you can consume, free lunch on Wednesdays and a cake on yo birthday.

– We don’t pay interns, but having your writing published is pretty cool, too.

Interested? Introduce yourself to us at bangkok@coconuts.co. Please include a fun cover letter, résumé and at least two writing samples.
