Thai officials have ordered two of the most popular motorcycle-hailing services on smartphones, GrabBike and UberMoto, to halt operations last month.
These days, when you open the Grab app, the motorbike option is gone, but the option to ship a package via motorbike still remains.
This got ingenious Bangkokians thinking about whether or not they could use their beloved app to ship themselves to their destination as a package.
Turns out, they can.
After reading internet rumors about users shipping themselves as packages, we had to give it a try.
By selecting “GrabBike Delivery,” a Coconuts staff member managed to get a ride home by saying she was a foreign human package. No questions were asked, and, THB36 later, our lives continued.
