Police could try to prosecute customers that used credit cards at Nataree

Metropolitan police are still searching for the owner and manager of the scandal-ridden Nataree Massage Parlor to face 14 criminal charges including human trafficking.

Acting police commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau Pol. Lt. Gen. Sanit Mahatavorn, said in a press conference today that he hasn’t been contacted by owner Prasert Sukhee or manager Sommai Phadsingh since issuing the warrants for their arrest yesterday.

He has asked investigators to apprehend the men quickly and it was unclear if they have left the country or if they might attempt to, according to Thai PBS.

It was also mentioned that the police may charge customers who visited the massage parlor and paid by credit card if those clients saw underage migrant women.

That could be a lot of clients, since the famous Huay Khwang parlor has been open for 30 years. It’s also quite possible that clients may not have known they were using the services of foreign or underage women.

The Nataree massage parlour was raided by police and the Ministry of Interior on June 7.

In addition to detaining 77 foreign women thought to be engaged in sex work, there were also 15 underage girls among the total of 121 women they detained. Also found were books featuring lists of names and amounts thought to be records of bribes paid.

Senior police officers from the nearby Huay Khwang police station were among the names of people that may have received monthly bribes from the parlor. Five have been placed on inactive duty pending investigation.
