Military man marches to police after refusing to pay THB79 for pork fried rice

A soldier in Chiang Mai was so pissed about being charged THB79 for pork fried rice with an egg on top that he refused to pay and went straight to the cops with the bill.

Chanachai Saenkham, a senior military official from Kawila Camp, marched the bill straight to Chang Pheuak police station and demanded that the officers call the shop owner in for questioning over his high prices.

Chanachai had been out with military recruits at Suan Luang Lanna park when he decided to partake in that favorite of Thai activities — eating.

He wasn’t particularly impressed with the standard Thai dish of pork, rice and egg. He told Sanook, “It was just ordinary fried rice. If it had been THB50 that would be expensive. But THB79 was too much.”

He went straight to the police with his money in his hand. The fried rice vendor was called to the station but sent his minion instead, who partook in another favored Thai activity — pointing at things! He pointed right at the soldier, who became quiet and left in a huff with his recruits.

Chanachai was not finished though. He later followed up with authorities asking them to investigate why the fried rice was so darn expensive.

From what we can tell, he still hasn’t paid for it.
