No check-in necessary: Bangkok’s most irresistible hotel restaurants

Visitors to Bangkok rarely eat at a hotel other than their own, while those of us who live here tend to miss out on the fabulous cuisine offered at the city’s accommodations all together. In a bid to right that wrong in the only way we know how, Coconuts Bangkok brings you the lowdown on five of the Big Mango’s most irresistible hotel eateries.

Jojo at The St. Regis Bangkok

159 Rajadamri Road, Tel: +66 (0) 2207-7777

PRESENTED BY

Found on the upmarket Rajadamri Road along Bangkok’s key commercial corridor, the The St Regis Bangkok houses Jojo, an outstanding Italian restaurant focused on seasonal ingredients, “slow food” and authentic yet innovative cuisine. Having recently welcomed Chef de Cuisine Stefano Merlo, this bright and modern eatery (with its very own wine cellar, we care to note) has just updated its al la carte menu with several must-try dishes.

The Burrata Pugliese (fresh burrata cheese, cherry tomato gelatin, and “Carasau” bread) off the Antipasti menu is one to order if you’re not tempted to live a little by the Cipolla Caramellata di Davide Oldani (caramelized onion with parmesan ice cream). Yes, you read that right! The Tartare di Gamberi (red prawn tartare with oyster and strawberry mayonnaise) provides another interesting contrast, while you can’t go wrong with the Fagottini alla Norcina (homemade pasta filled with liquid ricotta cheese and Italian sausage), the Maialino da Latte (roasted Italian suckling pig with potato espuma and amatriciana sauce), or the Roasted Pigeon (with pigeon liver pate, traditional balsamic vinegar, and Jerusalem artichokes).

La Vue at Siam@Siam Design Hotel Bangkok

865 Rama 1 Road, Tel +66 (0) 2217-3000

PRESENTED BY

The pride and joy of the Siam@Siam Design Hotel Bangkok is the swanky La Vue French restaurant, which comes with all the flair and flourish you’d expect from fine dining on the Continent. Boasting fabulous views from the 25th floor, La Vue promises “a delicious symphony of the palate”. The sublime sensory experience offered here celebrates “Earth Cuisine”, inspired by a union of fresh produce from around the world, cultivated from the land and the sea.

The food is anything but ordinary, with the culinary team priding itself on its creativity and talent in the area of food science to deliver “art on a plate”. In fact, this highly cherished idea of art de la table translates right through to the service, which is said to be among the best in the city. To top it all off, La Vue has an amazing selection of wines, bio wines, aperitifs and digestives sourced from all over France.

Rang Mahal Rooftop Indian Restaurant at The Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok

The Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok, Sukhumvit Soi 18, Tel: +66 (0) 2261-7100

PRESENTED BY

Located right in the heart of Bangkok off Sukhumvit Road, Rang Mahal offers diners a taste of lavish but authentic Indian food. Found on the 26th floor of the Rembrandt Hotel – which was traditionally a pleasure house for Indian kings, no less – the restaurant serves up a tasty mix of ethnic Indian culinary styles against a stunning backdrop of the city skyline, with chefs flown in directly from the land of fire and spice.

The dining area is sophisticated with candlelit tables, but the luscious colors and live music mean it’s also somewhere you can relax and feel at home while experiencing the luxurious lifestyles of Indian Maharajas. Coming highly recommended off the menu are the succulent Tandoori Prawns, the tender Raan-E-Khyber (lamb leg with exotic herbs and spices), the Palak Aap Ki Pasand (creamed spinach with a choice of cottage cheese, potatoes, green peas, or mushrooms) and the Tandoori Murgh (chicken marinated in yoghurt and Oriental spices, cooked in the Tandoor oven).

Lin Fa at The Sukosol Bangkok

477 Si Ayuthaya Road, Phaya Thai, Bangkok, Tel: +66 (0) 2247-0123

PRESENTED BY

Lin Fa, at The Sukosol Hotel on Ayuthaya Road, is the home of modern Chinese dining in Bangkok. The restaurant – which has won multiple awards, including one of Thailand Tatler’s Best Restaurants of 2016 – juxtaposes its chic decor against an impressive collection of genuine antiques from the Middle Kingdom.

Multiple forms of Chinese cuisine can be found here, such as Szechuan Hot and Sour Soup (with chicken strips, bamboo shoots, bamboo silk, and diced black mushrooms), Dried Fish Maw (and Chinese black mushrooms in herb broth), and Pan-Fried Prawns (in a sweet cream sauce). Also coming highly recommended is the Peking Duck (served with traditional paper-thin rice flour pancakes and homemade plum dipping sauce) and the All You Can Eat Dim Sum Buffets on weekends. Hell yes to that!
