A small fire near BTS On Nut this morning caused train service in the area to stop for a short time during rush hour this morning. Thankfully, no one was hurt but the cause of the fire is unknown.
The blaze ignited at approximately 7:30am in a coffee shop below the station.

The coffee shop was gutted as flames quickly overtook the small store and threatened to move further up toward the station. Dark smoke filled the raised walkway and platform of the BTS station. Officials quickly evacuated passengers and closed the station until the situation could be put under control.
Sky trains scheduled to go to On Nut were simply advised to pass the station without opening the doors until directed to do otherwise.
The fire department got to the scene quickly and stopped all but one lane of traffic attempting to turn onto Sukhumvit Road so that they had space to bring in equipment and stop the fire, reported Thai PBS.

Traffic headed into On Nut was not stopped but moved slow anyway as drivers tried to get a look at what was happening.
It took thirty minutes to put out the fire but On Nut station was closed until later than 9am so that smoke could clear from the station.
Just after 9am, the station was re-opened and train service resumed as usual.
BTS officials announced, via Twitter, that passengers holding tickets to or from On Nut station this morning won’t get refunds, but can use the tickets at any other time within 14 days.
Later this morning, forensic police visited the scene to try to figure out what caused the fire.
