Man who pretended to be a cop said he did so because the uniform was cool

A 28-year-old man was arrested for impersonating a police officer in the district of Lat Phrao, complete with uniform, badge, unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The police impersonator, Teeramet Siriprapathanapong, was arrested by real police officers at an hotel room in soi 128/3 of Lat Phrao district.

At the time of the arrest, Teeramet, who claimed he was a former police volunteer, was caught wearing the police uniform. He had with him a police ID identifying himself as a Hua Mak police officer, which he reportedly brought online for the sum of THB3500. Along with that, he was also found to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

During his detainment, Teeramet told police he did not use the uniform to take advantage or gain any special favor with anyone. According to him, he impersonated a police officer out of love for the uniform which he think looks cool, reported Thai News Agency.

Teeramet admitted he impersonated the police a total of three times, once when he went to purchase a car and on other occasions when he went to meet friends. It was reported that he did so to brag about his status as an “police officer”.

It has been reported that Teeramet will be charged with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and for impersonating a police officer.
