The National Broadcasting Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) is hoping to restrict zoning for the Pokémon Go game after receiving several complaints from people who are disturbed by the trainers, or players, of the game.
Thakorn Tantasit, secretary of NBTC, said he will discuss with True Corporation Co. Ltd., who holds license of Pokemon Go in Thailand, how to restrict the locations of Pokéstops after several people made complaints, via its hotline, that players have been invading government offices and hospitals to catch the digital monsters.
He said that, in the initial phase, important government offices and the places that “hold up national security” should be free of Pokémons, Manager reported.
We’re not sure if Thakorn said this just because local journalists reported that the Government House is a “Lure”, which means Pokémons will be drawn to the spot.
Thakorn has also expressed concerns that children might unknowingly overspend their mobile data plan without their parents’ acknowledgment or permission.
Meanwhile, Uttama Savanayana, minister of Information and Technology, said there haven’t been any worrying incidents since the game was launched in the country on Saturday, but he asked citizens to act according to the law by not disturbing the owner of a premises and or violating anyone’s rights.
“Currently, there are no laws to control the games imported from another country. ICT will discuss with NBTC on how to prevent problems from the game. We will ask the mobile operators to follow up with us with the consequences of the game,” Uttama said.
