Feast like a bear on the fresh, wild flavors at the Taste of Canada food festival

PRESENTED BY

If your impression of Canada is that it’s a faraway land of bears, wilderness and funny accents, you’re kinda right. But did you know Canada is also a foodie paradise? There’s fresh seafood from the ice cold oceans, summer fruits like juicy blueberries and tart cherries, and wholesome, high quality products like rich dark chocolate, tasty almond milk and, of course, the world’s most authentic maple syrup. (You haven’t lived until you’ve tried real maple syrup!)

Now you can try, buy and take home all these delectable Canadian delights at the “Taste of Canada” food festival, taking place from Aug. 18-31 at Gourmet Market Emporium, EmQuartier and Paragon.

This is the fifth year in a row that Gourmet Market has partnered with the Canadian Embassy to bring the freshest Canadian ingredients to Bangkok, and this year’s indulgent feast won’t disappoint.

Step up your seafood game with live Pacific Rock Oysters, which you can eat fresh and cold with a sprinkle of spice and a squeeze of lemon; and live Geoduck Clams – a phallic favorite in Chinese cooking that have more recently debuted on chefs’ tables around the world in sashimi form. You’ll also find Canadian Sea Urchins, fresh, briny Canadian Lobster and big fillets of True North Canadian Salmon.

One more reason to stop by this food fest (as if you need another reason!) is Gourmet Market’s “You Hunt We Cook” service. With this on-going service, simply pick your fresh ingredients and have them whipped up right there by expert chefs. Taste of Canada is the perfect time to try it out! It doesn’t get much fresher than that, people, unless you catch the stuff yourself.

On that note, feel free to pretend you’re hunting in the Canadian wilderness instead of shopping in a downtown Bangkok supermarket – it makes finding that perfect fillet of salmon even more rewarding!

Keep up with Gourmet Market and the Embassy of Canada in Thailand on Facebook and never miss out on amazing ingredients and exciting food festivals from around the world.
