Bangkok’s Most Ridden: Vibhavadi Rangsit wins (or loses) for busiest road in city

Vibhavadi Rangsit Road has won the questionable honor of being named the busiest road in all of Bangkok. More than 150,000 cars, trucks and bikes travel this road every day, according to data released by City Hall’s traffic and transport department.

The road had the city’s highest average traffic volume of 158,711 vehicles each day.

Wondering what other roads get lots and lots of traffic? The runners-up were Rama II Road at 144,958 vehicles daily, Chaeng Watthana Road at 110,188, Ngam Wong Wan Road at 94,820, Si Nakharin Road at 75,324, Phahon Yothin Road at 60,237, Ram Intra Road at 55,768, Phetkasem Road at 51,051, Borom Ratchachonnanee Road at 44,864 and Bang Na to Trat Road at 25,017, according to Bangkok Post.

Unfortunately, being main thoroughfares, most of these roads are pretty hard to avoid.

Vibhavadi Rangsit Road always sees lots and lots of traffic since it connects the Northern part of the city to the Northeastern part, but new construction for the Green and Red train lines along Phahon Yothin Road has caused motorists to avoid that road due to delays and Vibhavadi Rangsit Road as an alternate route, making the road even more congested than usual.
