This week’s torrential rains upgraded to tropical storm

The Meteorological Department altered their prediction today about the heavy rains expected this week. The winds pushing the expected storm along have gained speed and the incoming weather has now been upgraded to “tropical storm” status. The storm has been named “Rai.”

As of this morning, the center of the storm was approaching Danang, Vietnam.

Northeastern Thailand will be the first part of the country affected by the tropical storm. After it hits there, it may dissipate and be downgraded from tropical storm status before it reaches other parts of the country.

Tropical storm or not, the heaviest of rainfalls are expected this week in Bangkok, right through the end of the weekend, reported Thai PBS.
