Four young Brits were caught and arrested on Friday for exchanging fake British pounds for Thai currency on Koh Phangan.
The police arrested them at their rented house in Ban Tai, and found 96 fake GBP20 notes, as well as 2.11 grams of marijuana in their possession. The fake money would’ve gotten them around THB86,000.
The investigation was led by Pol. Col. Somchai Noppasri, commander of Koh Phangan police. The men who were arrested were named as: Adam Carter, 21, Thomas Moore, Luke Swainston-Thomas, and Bradley Turner, all 23-year-olds.
They confessed that they brought over fake currency with them from the UK, and have been going around currency exchange stores on Koh Phangan, taking turns exchanging GBP100 at a time.
They have been charged with owning and passing fake foreign currency and possession of illegal drugs, reported Bangkok Post.
