Transgender teen, 15, caught selling teen girls through Facebook page, not aware it’s illegal

Police in Udon Thani have arrested a 15-year-old transgender teen who was setting up sex dates for three other underage girls through a Facebook page called “Girls Looking For Work.”

Once the police were made aware of the Facebook page promoting sex with young girls, their human trafficking officers performed a sting operation where they made plans to meet one of the three girls pictured on the page at a motel room in Udon Thani. The price for her services was THB1,200.

But surprisingly, the police found out the person who arranged the sex service was also underage, a 15-year-old transgender teen.

The teen, only identified as “Ae,” was arrested. She told police that she had set up the Facebook page and been arranging sex dates for three girls she knew for about a year. She had previously been prostituting herself to men for THB800.

Ae told them that the three girls on her page were voluntary sex workers and, with each customer, she would keep THB200 and give THB1,000 to the girl.

Ae told officers that her mother was dead and that she had run away from her home, in the Phen district of Udon Thani, two years earlier. She had not been to school in that time and was addicted to yaba, reported Thairath.

Inside the motel room, they found a girl, Bee, 16, who was featured on the Facebook page.

She told officers that she was also a runaway who did not attend school and had been doing sex work to pay for her yaba habit since before she met Ae.

The young girl revealed that she saw seven to 10 customers a month for the past year and that her clients were usually men over 30 that were construction workers, civil servants or local politicians.

Surprisingly, she told officers that she did not realize that what she was doing was illegal and that she wasn’t being forced to do it.

She was not arrested but was taken into custody to live at a children’s home. Ae was charged for her role in the prostitution ring but she will also receive social services.
