Thai school unknowingly allowed a student to leave with a rapist, parents seeking help

A school in Pathum Thani is under fire after one of their teachers allowed an 11-year old student be taken out of school by a stranger, who turned out to be a rapist.

On Sept. 13, the stranger came riding in on a bike early in the morning and told the teacher that he was going to take out the Mathayom 5 student, whose identity was withheld, to do some business with her parents.

Instead, she was taken to a nearby area, assaulted, and brought back to school at 10am the same day. The victim was threatened and told not to tell anyone.

The rapist, 21-year-old Somchai Siangek, has already been apprehended by the police. He is being held in Thanyaburi jail and faces three charges: rape, abduction, and threats made with a weapon.

He confessed to the police that he was sexually aroused so he went to the school to pick up a girl he did not know and raped her.

After the girl told her parents what happened, they had asked the school for their help and footage of the preparator so that they could take it to the police. The school, however, refused to release the CCTV footage to them.

According to Channel 7 Khao Kum, the police are planning on interrogating two of the teachers from the school.

It was revealed that the Somchai was actually a former student at the school, which has led to suspicion that the school might be trying to help him for unknown reasons.

The parents worry that now that the man is caught, the case will be dropped without them receiving full justice for what has been done to their daughter.

The parents are now seeking help through the media, appealing to reporters so that something will be done to help their daughter. They have also taken their case to public help group, the Pavena Foundation for Children and Women.

Pol.Maj. Thert Hannarong, of the Nong Suea police station, said that they are waiting for the victim’s physical examination results, which could take up to a month, reported Thai News Agency.
