Girl tracks down missing iPhone, culprit tells her ‘I was gonna use it!’

A Thai woman whose sister forgot an iPhone 6 at a game machine was shocked when they found the phone with a man who simply admitted he was trying to unlock it and take ownership of the phone.

The story was shared by Facebook user Napichaya Noisong on Saturday. According to her,  Napichaya’s sister had forgotten her iPhone 6, so she used the Find My iPhone app to locate it for her sister. The phone was left at a shopping center in Pattaya, but it was certainly not there when she used the app to search for it.

Instead, someone had found it and was going around to different tech stores, trying to reset the phone and unlock it. Napichaya said that she tried calling the phone, but no one answered.

Riding on the back of a motorcycle taxi, she followed the path of the phone until the tracks went cold — the iPhone had been turned off. Looking around, she saw another mobile tech store and a man standing outside with a woman.

In his hands was her sister’s phone.

When Napichaya confronted him about it, instead of apologizing or returning it right away, he nonchalantly told her that he found it and didn’t know who it belonged to, so he was gonna keep it and use it himself.

She asked, “Why were you going around to mobile phone stores then?”

“Well, I found it, so of course I was gonna use it. I found it!” He replied, laughing as if he has done nothing wrong. “I was trying to unlock it!”

When she tried to ask him why he didn’t pick up the phone when she called, he simply ended the conversation, saying, “Okay, just take your phone back then.”

He even lectured her before riding off on his motorcycle, saying “Don’t forget it next time! If you forget it, of course it’ll go missing.”

Afterwards, Napichaya went around to the teach store that the culprit visited. They told her that he was claiming that the phone was his, but it became obvious that he was lying when he was unable to unlock the phone, reported Kapook.

Many netizens who commented on her post wanted her to report the matter to the police, since she was able to record him confessing that he did take her phone and planned on keeping it.

Whether she reported him or not is unknown.
