Due to crime, Koh Larn to get its own police station

It looks like Pattaya Police will open a new police station on Koh Larn after reflecting on several incidents lately that have had a bad effect on tourism and the reputation of the holiday island.

Pol. Col. Apchai Krobpetch, Pattaya Police Chief, announced that the new station will serve tourists more quickly than having to get help from mainland Pattaya when things go wrong.

The chief did not say when this new station will open.

Koh Larn, a small island located just off Pattaya, is a much-loved resort island that attracts both Thais and foreigners. However, the beach paradise’s reputation has been tarnished by an ongoing series of problems that have involved foreign tourists, reported Bangkok Post.

The most recent incident was a rape case just this week. Jet ski rental attendant Rattana Harit has been accused of having nonconsensual sex with a Japanese holidaymaker on Saturday.

The suspect has been arrested and has denied the charge.
