‘Teen Giant’ trailer takes classic Thai themes and gives them a VERY modern twist

A test trailer for a movie called TEEN Giant, or TEEN Yug, was recently released to the public via the movie’s Facebook page, and has received awesome early feedback, making us even more excited to see it.

In the Facebook post, they make it known right away that it’s just a test trailer and that they have not yet filmed the whole movie.

According to the creators, it has taken them three years to develop this project so far. They have pulled inspiration from other Thai hero videos that involve giants as well.

However, they decided to put a modern twist on this story, so that people of the younger generation can enjoy it.

The theme of the story will be the conflict between something that is old and something that is new.

One of the comments left on the video says, “This is great! We should really show those culturalists what generation we’re all living in right now. They keep on acting like thousand-year old tortoises. Thai kids these days lose to no one in smarts and creativity!”

“Culture can survive if the people are interested, feel it, touch it, and feel like they are a part of it. But if we keep on making culture seem like something that is untouchable, it will stay that way. That that is why some cultures die,” said Fah-Atitatarn Intakeha, the producer and screenwriter for TEEN Giant.

At the start of the trailer, they feature a actual khon performer wearing a proper costume and displaying an authentic khon performance. It is to show respect and admiration to the old arts, reported Daily News.

The story is about a young man named Lek who one day finds out that he is born of mixed heritage – half man, half giant. Powerful beings from the old world who hate, and are afraid of, giants discuss on what it is they should do about the sudden appearance of a the new man/giant.

Half of them want to kill Lek, believing that he is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. The other half understands that Lek is simply another teenage boy who needs to understand who he is.

However, Lek can’t help but revel in the power and freedom that he experiences with this discovery. As days pass, his power grows stronger, but also more dangerous. His physical appearance begins to change. If Lek is unable to control to powers, the world might fall into peril.
