BFF: Man and lost dog are reunited with the help of social media

It’s a truly happy day when a man and his dog are reunited with each other. Prakit Malathong, the owner of an overly adventurous golden retriever named “Mo,” found himself in a dilemma this past Tuesday when Mo jumped off his pickup truck in the middle of a ride.

Prakit said that he had accidentally left the rear gate of his pickup truck open, and had Mo tied up at the back enjoying the cool wind during his drive from Bangkok to Chanthaburi.

He was planning on taking Mo out there to his father’s house because there was more room for Mo to run compared to his place in Bangkok.

It seems like Mo didn’t like that idea very much, and decided to jump out of the truck and run away.

Prakit only realized his dog was missing when a passing motorist notified him that his rear gate was open while he was paying a toll at the Bang Muang exit in Muang district. All he found left in the back was a chewed up rope and no Mo.

Alarmed, he called his family members who were back in Bangkok. They asked them to follow the exact same route he had taken to see if Mo could be spotted.

It was Prakit’s uncle in Chanthaburi, however, who found Mo by surfing the net.

Apparently, after jumping off the truck, Mo was found with a broken left hind leg by Expressway Authority of Thailand officials at the Pak Nam 2 exit. They sent her to get treatment at the Animal Hospital of Kasetsart University and posted photos of the found dog online.

News of Mo spread on Facebook and Twitter, thanks to the Traffic Police. They were hoping to find Mo’s owner, writing: “The doggy is waiting for her owner at Bang Muang 4 exit. She was crying and it looks like she is hurt.”

The post was shared by netizens, and it eventually reached Prakit’s uncle.

Prakit wrote on his Facebook, thanking the officials who cared for her during his absence, and social media netizens for spreading the word until it reached him.

It was reported by Bangkok Post that Prakit intends to drive back to reunite with Mo at the Pak Nam 2 exit today. Afterwards, he plans on taking her back home to Bangkok so her leg can heal.
