Problem-plagued Yala province gets its first female traffic cop

The problem-ridden Southern provinces have their first traffic policewoman directing traffic now in the Muang district in Yala.

Pol. Lt. Arthitya Jehpong started her streetside job recently, after holding an office job at the province’s police head office. She volunteered to direct traffic because she wanted a challenge in her work and to better serve her community, reported Thai PBS.

Pol. Lt. Arthitya has said that she’s very aware of the riskiness of her new job and that she knows she could meet harm from militants when she is working on the street but she has accepted the challenge along with the risks.
