While we feel like the rain will never stop in Bangkok, and many of the surrounding provinces are dealing with flooding fallout, they are having the opposite problem in the South.
Koh Samui, specifically, is in the midst of a debilitating water shortage, one so dire that local authorities are taking advantage of artificial rain making.
A couple of planes from the Surat Thani Royal Rain-making Center landed in Koh Samui yesterday with the mission to seed clouds with water to, literally, make it rain.
Another part of the operation is that the island’s water trucks have been distributing waters to residents since tap water has dried up in most areas, reported Thai PBS.
Most years, Koh Samui’s waterworks collects enough water for 40 percent of residents needs and the rest is provided by ocean water that’s been processed by desalination plants.
This year, however, the waterworks has fallen very short.
