The symbolic royal bathing ceremony for HM King Bhumibol, which was initially open only until noon, was extended until 2pm.
Mourners in black were lined up on sidewalks at the Siriraj intersection, and along the Wang Lang and Arun Amarin roads, all waiting to pay their respects to the beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
They held lotus flowers, yellow flags and held pictures of HM the King.
The royal procession of the King’s body from Siriraj hospital will happen at 3pm, and the public was invited to watch the procession and symbolic bathing ceremony before the late king’s photo at Sala Sahathai Samakhom pavilion at the Grand Palace.
The government only specified that mourners and watchers should be wearing black. There is a live television broadcast that is scheduled to start at 2:30pm.
The procession will start from Siriraj hospital, and turn into Arun-amarin road. It will cross the Pinklao bridge, turning right in front of Ratchadamnoen Nai and Na Phra Larn roads, turn left into Maharaj road, and enter the Grand Palace through the Thevaphirom gate.
The royal bathing ceremony will start at 5pm, reported Bangkok Post.
