Korean artist draws portrait of King Bhumibol as tribute (VIDEO)

There is a saying in Thai that “a portrait of King Bhumibol is what every Thai home has in common,” and in time of mourning, Thai internet users have shown their appreciation to this Korean artist, who posted a video of the process he used to draw Thailand’s late king.

The video by a Korean artist on the Facebook page “Drawholic” has gained over 1.5 million views since it was posted yesterday, and more importantly, it has received much love and admiration from Thais, who are deeply in mourning.

“Thank you very much for your respect and kindness in drawing a very very beautiful picture of our King Bhumibol, from the heart of Thai citizen,” the top comment wrote.

The artist wrote that this portrait was a request, and he decided to follow as he could feel the broken heart of the person who wrote to him.

“I’m a foreigner, but [I] pray for Thailand,” the artist wrote.
