Looking back at HM the King’s New Year’s cards and adorable royal dogs (PHOTOS)

Besides seeing the new calendar featuring portraits of King Bhumibol Adulyadej each year on New Year’s day, another thing that every Thai family looked forward to was the New Year’s card from HM the King.

Known for his love for animals, HM the King used photos of himself and his royal pet dogs as the subject for his New Year’s cards to citizens from 2006 – 2014.

HM the King created the New Year’s cards himself using his personal computer every year since 1988. His card was sent out to government organizations and the media for widespread publication.

Last year, he used a poster from the animation “The Story of Mahajanaka,” which was based on his literary work.
